2021 WWII Memorial Tournament !!!

The 2021 WWII Memorial Tournament marks Vets Whole In One’s 54th successful event over our 4 years of service helping veterans. We are very grateful to our friend John Lee and Carla for sponsoring this incredible event!

Our day started at the Heroes Golf Course, in West Los Angeles, on a slightly misty morning. Participants arrived and as they waited chatted over coffee and pastries. Once we were ready, we all gathered around the beautiful 9th green for an inspirational mindfulness meditation session. The session was led by our Mindfulness teacher, Stephen Islas who set the tone for the day. Even though the meditation was very calming, everyone excitedly headed out to their appointed starting positions.

The Heroes Course was beautifully maintained for our event. We want to extend a special thank you to the unsung heroes, Lee, Brad and crew, who work tirelessly to keep the course in great shape. The natural beauty and low key environment are both integral qualities for the healing therapy that the course provides.

Once all the players had begun, it took everyone about two hours to complete the round. Boy, did we see it all out there too, the good, the bad, and the ugly!? Even though we all still need work on our golf games, the days’ most important mission was accomplished, everyone had a great time!

When play concluded, we were treated to some incredible BBQ and dessert! During the delicious meal, we all sang Happy Birthday to Daisy Dennerline, Jim’s daughter for her 30th!

Thank you again to the dynamic duo BBQ Team, Stanley and Gwendolyn! We are so lucky to have such amazing food and great conversation after the round. Thank you to the volunteers who helped serve the food, clean up, and also thank you Dayna Bochco for another amazing cake!

Finally, a big thank you to Jim Dennerline and Danny Saez for always doing such a great job in managing the ever changing pairings, tallying the final scores and presenting the prizes!
