Brentwood School Student Veteran Tournament!
Vets Whole In One collaborated with the High School Students of the Brentwood School to host a remarkable event. Not only did the event bring together veterans and young individuals, but it also provided an opportunity for the younger generation to learn more about the veterans in their community. This event served as a bridge between generations, fostering understanding, empathy, and support.
A special highlight of the event was when high school student Grant Howe, who organized and hosted the event, spoke to the group. This student took the initiative to make the necessary connections and gained invaluable experience in planning a healing event for our veterans. We are sure it was a learning experience that will undoubtedly shape their perspectives and contribute to their personal growth.
We were thrilled to have a total of 45 participants join us on this momentous occasion. The event commenced with a Mindfulness Meditation session in which both the students and veterans practiced awareness and being fully present in the moment. The calming group meditation set the tone for the day, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and mindfulness.
Following the meditation, everyone enjoyed 9 holes of golfing, which provided a wonderful opportunity for camaraderie, friendly competition, and skill-building. The West LA VA Golf Course offered a beautiful backdrop immersing golfers not only in the moment, but also in the beauty of nature.
To conclude the event, a delicious BBQ was cooked and by served by two of the awesome volunteer dads Steven and Martin! The breaking of bread brought everyone together for a shared meal. The groups, sit down meal further fostered connections and provided a space for conversations and laughter to flow freely.
Thank you Brentwood School, Bandini Foundation -Heroes Golf Course, and to the wonderful parents and kids who participated!!!
